I want to be there Bernie :(

This is where I grew up Louise - you take it for granted when you're young. I don't get back there much but when I do I always head for this beach in particular - it was always my favourite. My hometown was surrounded by beaches - there are 7 different ones around the town!

Ohhh, i'd never leave there !!!
It looks beautiful :)))

Thanks TT - snapped this at one of the beaches in my hometown just last weekend.

When most folk say "home town"... it doesn't look quite like this....Lol...
Fabulous...

It was a very quiet small town when I grew up here - but it was surrounded by beaches on all sides! One of the beaches was just used last year for filming in the Baz Luhrmann movie 'Australia' - don't know if you know of that movie (not one of the best!)

Maybe not one of the best movies, but fantastic choice of location ! Lol.

Totally agree TT - one of the worst movies ever (even if Hugh was in it - not much time for Nicole!). But the scene where the Nicole character arrives in the boat and all the scenes during the evacuation were shot at my hometown's front beach. Couldn't imagine such a thing when I grew up there!

Well - maybe close to it Irish! There are a lot of lovely beaches over here - but this one has a special place in my heart.

What a wonderful beach..............

~considering Sandra's bit of beach out in west Wales was used for Harry Potter and Russell Crowe in Robin Hood they are using more original locations that have less 20th century clutter~I think it is brilliant!~good for the economy whilst it lasts!

Good point Arlene - these beaches have been largely unspoiled and pretty pristine which certainly translates well onto the screen. My little hometown certainly benefited from the all the who-hah that went on for several weeks - pumped a lot of money into the local economy and apparently the stars mixed with the locals all the time - Hugh's son even attended the local school for a few weeks and worked in the local pie shop!

~that's good ~I think Sandra's son and friends were extras too~it all helps! ~I know that Alnwick Castle in Norhumberland was used as the school in the original Harry Potter film and tourists turn up just to see it.~

What a wonderful place to grow up in , that beach is fabulous! I bet all the filming caused quite a stir in your hometown, its good to hear that the stars mixed in with the local community.

Thanks Pansypotter and Morgana - apart from some of the buildings they erected down on Front Beach to re-create Darwin during WW2, there's not a lot to indicate the town was part of a big budget movie at all. It still looks almost exactly the same to me.

That is good to hear, soon as camera s get into a lovely natrual place the big corporations see money building holiday homes and hotels spoiling the natural beauty that attract in the first place

Hmmm....think I'd definetly have been focusing on the beach & not the foliage! :))

Yes thanks Simbad - it's a shame you don't appreciate what you have when you're young. It was a very scenic place but all I wanted to do was leave and go to the big city!!
