We have had a dragonfly around our pond the last few days Janey...laying eggs ! Will try to get a pic !

Ooh....that must be wonderful....I find them so interesting do you....they look so intelligent but lethal! Adoronron has given me the proper name, this is a female Common Hawker (Aeshna juncea). Thanks Ado!

apparently Janey their larvae are lethal.Live in pond and eat tadpoles...for 2 years.Then emerge as baby dragonflies ! Oh well thats nature !

Survival of the fittest as they say, BB or the ones with the biggest mouths...Lol! I remember when we were kids we used to take a bucket down to some swamps and get tiny fish, pond skaters, tadpoles etc..........I didn't check on it for a couple of days and all that there was was a dragonfly larva....I thought it was a prawn...Lol!!

LOL Janey ! As you say..the biggest mouths ! Dont interfere..just let them get on with it as nature intended !
