Joseph's coat - I didn't expect to get two different coloured roses on the same plant despite the name.
Comments on this photo
Oh that's so lovely - what fabulous colours.

I have not seen this one before...did the pink rose start out orange?
10 Aug, 2009
Well to be honest I did not notice whether pinky was orange. You can tell I don't get out much as I have to walk past this climber to leave my property. I can now report that all the three orange roses are now pink and pinky is still erm pink. More baby oranges are on their way too! Silly me - you can see the buds in the photo can't you! - I meant they are starting to open - I bet you knew that was going to happen too didn't you!
13 Aug, 2009
Well I had seen this on Gilli's site she had one doing this..so I had a bit of a head start on it..lol...xx
14 Sep, 2009
Hi GF, I also have this rose and it can't make up it's mind which color it wants to be! I like the orange/red/gold stage best. The deer like the orange/red/gold stage best too because that's when they eat them. so far they have only allowed three or four blossoms to turn pink and cream.

Very pretty.... nominated for GoYpedia Climbing Roses category...:o)
18 Sep, 2009
Princess Weeds - Our roses are really beautiful and always change their mind what colour they want to be. I wonder what gender they are. I agree with your preference on the best stage. Oh dear they must be irresistibly delicious then but what good taste you and your visitors have. Can you think of someone we know who has not visited this photo? I hope he or she is not jealous of not having one in their inventory yet and just doesn't really like roses.
Terra - Thank you, I am most honoured indeed that my rose photo has received your nomination.
24 Sep, 2009
Well-deserved.... an attractive rose, and photographed nicely... :o)
24 Sep, 2009
Sir Bear, how goes it?
Ahem, gender?...do I detect a snide remark hiding in that comment? :-)
I'm not sure who is missing here, do you refer to Princess Gilli? It can't be Gilli, she is our Rose Queen. Who then?
26 Sep, 2009
Princess Weeds - I couldn't possibly comment about the gender question - on making up one's mind.
Queen Catfinch - Have you decided whether or not you have seen this before?
26 Sep, 2009
Well...lets see...? Ya know I think I saw Gilli's George Burns Rose and thought it was the same...Hey! What are you saying Bear Knight of the North Welsh Woods?
Gilli needs to come on here and confirm this. Where is that towel Elephant Ant-Eater anyway...? Not speaking about a rose of many colors????? How can this be?
26 Sep, 2009
I am here.....just arrived. Lovely photo GF. I have seen Joseph's Coat and it is truly a chamelion. It acts very much like my Rio Samba....buds start out deep orange and then go through colour changes until they reach pink. In fact, if my Rio was a climber I'd be tempted to say it was a Joseph's Coat. LOL.
Cat ~ George Burns is a striped red/yellow rose.....although lovely it is not the same. :o(
26 Sep, 2009
er...you mean I was wrong??? don't let the Bear Knight know...shhhhhh...
p.s....elephant.ant-eater...mmmm...I know who you are..and what you did to that bee.....
26 Sep, 2009
Sorry Cat......yes!!?? Ssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!
Cat......"I know what you did last summer". Isn't that a movie.????
27 Sep, 2009
Well yes it is...but I was talking about a bee...that you mangled.. sheesh...
and yes shhhhhhhhhh...he has gone to sleep ..we must not wake him..sshhhssshhhh...shhshhshhh
27 Sep, 2009
Princess Weeds - Thank you for asking after me. The truth is I too am getting more and more confused in this biblical world of Joseph and the lovely ladies of GOY. I am pleased the prodigal Princess has returned let there be no confusion over that. I think this calls for a celebratory feast; so I will be posting a roses blog - edible or not that is another question. However back to confusion: This started with the rose that couldn't make up it's mind what colour it is. Next I didn't understand why the avatar photo changed from the bride Princess in white to K9 in white in disguise. Queen Catfinch can't make her mind up whether the K9 is an ant eater or an elephant. Princess K9 did a blog on a wasp, yellow jacket or jasper that survived but is now referred to as a bee that was mangled. It is autumn now but spring has just turned into summer. George burns has changed into a rose and I won't be surprised if Joseph does the samba. Sshhhhh - I must still be asleep dreaming.
27 Sep, 2009
Maybe the avatar in question is somehow related to the rose that can't decide what color to be. Whatever the avatar, as long as it is our Gilli, I'll accept each change. Zat you Gilligirl?
I think my Joseph's Coat has yet another problem...it can't decide if it's a climber or not. It doesn't seem to be reaching upward. Maybe it has given up it's climbing habit because each time it reaches up it gets nipped off.
27 Sep, 2009
Princess Weeds - I think it best to avoid further confusion - crossing the K9 with the rose would produce a very strange result. I think Princess Gilli's avatar is rather unsettling - if we are no longer to be treated to the real visage then I think it should be a rose but of course it is up to our Princess to decide what best reflects her persona and at least she no longer has a beard.
It must be nice to have deer as garden visitors and I suppose the price is sacrificing Joseph's coat to feed them. Tis the same for me with bunny rabbits but fortuitously for me bunnies are not inclined to eat my roses.
30 Sep, 2009
Gilli is this avatar pup a bed towel from a cruise? You know what I mean? My kids went on a cruise and they had funny little animals made out of towels on their bed every day when they came back to their room. Am I confusing you? Aw well...
2 Oct, 2009
GF what would we have from that cross? And would a rose from that cross "smell as sweet?"
2 Oct, 2009
Weedy.....you are indeed correct in assuming this is a cruise ship towel animal. I liked this one especially as the Steward had used my sunglasses to finish him off. :o)
GF, I'm sorry you find my menopausal metamorphosising ant-eater elephant towel animal "unsettling".......If it upsets you so much I had better find some other image to replace it with. Something that expresses my inner self in an equally concise manner. Hmmmm.........what to use??????
2 Oct, 2009
Gilli, as my dog Phoebe would say...you are adordaberrr...she talks funny cannot help it.. she's a dog.. :o) ~Cat
2 Oct, 2009
Princess Weeds - Twould seem the K9 was born on a bed of roses. But if our rose exchanged her white suit for Joseph’s coat perhaps we would end up with an unscented dog rose - nay never could that be. But, soft! what light through yonder avatar breaks?
Princess Gilli – So this is your true self – innocence personified - your inner child, no canine bite, too cute a sight – as sweet as a rose our little Gilligirl turned GilliJack, yet alas now is lost the memory of a towel elephant needed to remember that far back.
3 Oct, 2009
It is the east, and Gilli-et is the sun.
Nice poem GF. :~)
3 Oct, 2009
Nay arise, fair Princess Weeds, poor Princess Gilli has a shiny red moon.
3 Oct, 2009
Ay?
3 Oct, 2009
Princess Weeds of the East - see Princess Gilli to your West's wasp blog
3 Oct, 2009
Aw geez, I missed that whole thing. What a hoot!
3 Oct, 2009
Ahhh....no longer do I have a shiny red moon. Tis but a memory. :o)
Alas.....The menopausal, metomorphising, towel ant-eater elephant found the frosty days too distressing and migrated back to deepest darkest Africa. Perchance to reappear ere the days grow longer once again. Now Princess Gilli's inner child is displayed for all to see. How long will it last afor another mysterious change occurs? Tis not for us to say....change will come in its own sweet time.
4 Oct, 2009
Gilli, I await with 'baited breath! Dreaming, dreaming of what might next appear.
4 Oct, 2009
Lol Gilli!
My inner child got old really fast!
I love the colour hanges in this rose! It's superb!
17 Oct, 2009
Princess Weeds - I purchased a rose plant on October 16th called Yellow Dreamer. I must have been thinking of you holding your breath all these weeks. What have you been dreaming of appearing next? I have a photo of a young boy who looks exactly like me at that age. Would it help your breathing problem if I posted the photo?
Madperth - I thought you had used a gardening term I am not familiar with: "hanges" but I think I c what you were trying to say now. It is shocking how quickly time passes and the older you get the more unbelievable it seems. It is shocking to think how few autumns we each might have and so need to make full and best use of them. At the moment that to me means enjoying any good weather working in my garden. Regaining my inner child in the presence of my granddaughter has in recent years been the most fun way to enjoy that time. Having childish fun when not in her presence is more difficult so for the rest of the time I will just have to make do thinking I am 17 years old again without any associated problems. It should be easier for you students out there.
20 Oct, 2009
I WOULD agree, GF, but I'm a 50 year-old student! Mind you, I AM having fun, & the people in my class are keeping me young! Yes, I DID mean to put 'Changes'! Lol!
20 Oct, 2009
GF I would breathe easy again if only you would post your boyhood photo. Bet you were a chubby cheeked kid-let.
21 Oct, 2009
I must've missed the towel thing! I'm really confusssed now! LOL!
21 Oct, 2009
Madperth - The people in my class make me feel young too - this is because I am the new boy to the subject and am probably the youngest there. The towel thing was Princess Gilli's former avatar. It looked like a white dog with sun glasses on. I did not like Princess Gilli looking like a dog so I complained. Now she has a new avatar but our rose garden lecturer is a child and so makes me feel old.
Princess Weeds - I will have to fathom out how to scan the photo into my computer. My scanner did not work with Vista and I could not download any software to make it work. I have not scanned anything on my new printer - so sorry for the delay. I think I will try to put the photo on my avatar.
21 Oct, 2009
Thanks GF! I remember now! It was the anteater/elephant bit that muddled me! LOL! Well she looks good in the pic! Better than the doggy thing!
I'm definitely the oldest in my class! But who cares! Most of them are more grown-up than I ever want to be!
21 Oct, 2009
Who is that adorable little boy in your avatar???? It looks so much like "you" my Knight!
21 Oct, 2009
Awwww! Sweet! He's gotten younger!
21 Oct, 2009
GF Had the same trouble with my scanner and Vista...I could come up with a few choice words for Vista. What did you do? I ended up buying a free standing scanner that promised it would work with Vista and then had to download an upgrade for that one too. And it's performance is still dubious.
22 Oct, 2009
Queen Catfinch & Madperth - "adorable" "Sweet" please are you trying to embarass me? lol The truth is I was always embarrassed by this photo in particular the curly hair piled up. Fortunately some of the hair has been cropped off in the avatar photo.
Princess Weeds - When I started experiencing intermittent problems with my printer and because the scanner would not work, I bought one of the all singing dancing models. No written instructions were provided for working the scanner. My new avatar is my first attempt at using the new scanner function. One day I might get round to working out how to use the fax and wireless features.
I cannot think of any gardening connection to this technology. I have a garden design software package but found it too complicated to use, rendering it entirely useless to me. I might try it again if I feel I need a dose of frustration /exasperation. Has anyone found any such software useful?
22 Oct, 2009
No, GF! Not trying to embarrass you! Lol! You were so cute though! (Sorry, couldn't resist!)
I got a garden design software thingy too & couldnt use it either! Total waste of money, unless you're a designer AND a computer wizz!
22 Oct, 2009
Oh stop it!...lol...You "are" adorable and you know it!...lol! snicker..he he he..cute cute cute!
22 Oct, 2009
Awww Poor GF! Is his hair curling at the thought of being thought CUTE?
Cat, I'm getting as bad as you, lol!
22 Oct, 2009
lol..Marie...he is cringing I am sure...lol...I will be in trouble no doubt..he he he..
22 Oct, 2009
No doubt! He hasn't got to now my sense of humour (Yet) either! Poor man!
22 Oct, 2009
Oh my now Gilli has become a rose...she is out Rose Princess lecturer...so it is certainly fitting... :)
22 Oct, 2009
Yes, lovely, Gilli! I'm going back to my cartoon! That pic of me's getting on my nerves!!
22 Oct, 2009
YOU are very tiny Marie! lol
22 Oct, 2009
I dunno what went wrong there! It wont load!!
22 Oct, 2009
awwwww!...a cutie patootie...lol..love the bow!
22 Oct, 2009
Thanks! Thats me at 1!!
22 Oct, 2009
oh.. so sweet!
22 Oct, 2009
;~))
22 Oct, 2009
I wonder shall I say something about the sweet cutie patootie? I wonder what a patootie is? A potato perhaps? I had better not say she hasn't changed a bit - she might think I think she looks like a potato. Was she a bit chubby aged one? I had better not imply she was a slow learner unable to say cheese by aged one as she is still at school now. I don't want to end up in trouble. Why don't you just say something complimentary like everyone else? I don't do baby compliments. I know a gardening question then - yes that's safe enough.
Madperth - I see you have changed your hair style on your avatar photo. What variety of butterfly was it that landed on your mop? As regards garden design software; I am a wizzard so I think it must be the computer that is a bit slow.
Queen Catfinch - You are indeed in trouble as a result of your cuteing remarks. Princess Weeds and Princess Gilli the Yorkshire rose have been subdued and not enjoined you. I wonder whether I will escape this fate. I sense another prompt metamorphosis might thwart further ignominious commentary on my avatar.
23 Oct, 2009
lol...I am not frightened...for now anyway..I am still too far away for that...lol..
you must not be worrying over what a patootie is...it is not a potato..silly..Marie pay this bad boy no attention...lol..
your avatar must stay a bit longer.....
Your Queen requests this...it is a Royal decree that it stay!
23 Oct, 2009
OK, Cat! I'll leave it for a while!
GF, cheeky!! Chubby? I was a perfect baby! I just had loads of frills on my dress under the coat! My mum was really into frills!! :~(
It was probably a cabbage white on my head, lol!
I think I was bored by then, apparently the snapper took over 200 pics, that was no.47! So no smiles!
23 Oct, 2009
Marie...you are adorable of course..and I see and love your little sly smile you have there hiding to one side.and your sweet bow!
You may do as you wish with your photo..lol..
It is my Knight who must leave his photo by his Queens Royal decree! Especially now that he has gaffed so badly...oh my...dear dear dear...tut tut..GF...
23 Oct, 2009
LOL, Cat!! Quite right! I think he deserves that! Lol!
My dad tells me they had a time of it getting me to keep the bow in, I kept pulling it off! Nothing new there! I HATE frills & flounces!
24 Oct, 2009
GF, this "you" is going to be a hard act to follow. Where, oh, where shall you go from here?
27 Oct, 2009
Pretty fall leaves Miss Cat, I plucked some oak leaves Saturday and put them in an old picture frame. I love fall!
27 Oct, 2009
What ...! Oh ...I see you have changed your avatar...my Royal Decree means NOTHING Sir Bear?!...then you shall be a Silly Mummy!
30 Oct, 2009
I dont know, Cat! These people who keep changing their avatars! Terrible! Lol!
Like it, GF!!
30 Oct, 2009
Queen Catfinch - Was it your Majesty or the mad witch with purple hair that caste the mummy spell on me? Oh woe is me after finally revealing my visage for all to see alas I am transformed to being a faceless wonder.
Princess Weeds - You asked where I will go from here - well look what your sisty or the wicked witch of the north has done to this poor innocent soul.
30 Oct, 2009
Wasnt me, GF! I'm a vampire!
Must've been the Cat Queen!
30 Oct, 2009
Mad Vampire - Have you heard the saying you cannot get blood out of a stone? My granddaughter decorated this stone for me that is my latest avatar. We found it on the beach on Tuesday. It has an unusual orifice. I know there was a band called the Stone Roses. They sang a track called waterfall so that is the gardening connection. I was not a fan of their music though.
31 Oct, 2009
Ohhhhhhh.....so that is what your pic is now. A rock. Quite fitting GF....Is it one of the rocks that you lost out of your head? As for the wicked change.....well, of course that wasn't me!! Now, would I do that to you Sir Turniphead?
1 Nov, 2009
LMAO, Gilli! Love the avatar!!
GF, is THAT why I broke a fang?? Shame on you!! Lol!
1 Nov, 2009
Princess Frankenstein - Boulderdash - Er excuse me but just who is the Turniphead around here? If you did not punish me with a magichead spell who else could it have been?
Madperth - Cheers. Has the vampire gone for good? So sorry about your fang. For health and safety reasons I have taken my rock off. On my latest avatar, I have not risked sticking my neck out in case you return as your vampire self at night. Also as we haven't been discussing gardening, I am expecting the head police woman to turn up on my site next! There has been too much magic on heads recently.
1 Nov, 2009
Oh dear My Knight..I do fear for your neck....should I turn you back to the sweet little Munchkin again...for your own safety?
The Head Police Woman is roaming about and I fear you may be in danger with her as well..so be cautious until I can think of what you should be next....! Cover your neck please..it is making me nervous..fang lady is right above you...and she has been drinking!
1 Nov, 2009
Hee hee! I see your neck!!!
And my pint of blood is finished!!
Scared??? You should be!!
1 Nov, 2009
Madperth - Bloody h--l I have gone all wobbly scared, the colour has drained out of me - there is none left for you honest. Where are the throat police when you need them?
Queen Catfinch - I have to change my avatar for vampire safety reasons again. Can you please change me back? Preferably something about gardening or the X factor as I don't want to be put in the corner for aberations.
2 Nov, 2009
There now..All better!...Nobody will bother you now!
2 Nov, 2009
You're safe now, GF, I've been fed!!
And I dont attack children! Well..........
I like them, but I couldnt eat a whole one!
Mmmwwwaaaahahaha!!
2 Nov, 2009
Queen Catfinch - I think this latest avatar ruse has uncovered someone MarieD to Dracula; a halloween vampire bride. I am now in a cage suspended from the light rose. You might have to get our Rose Princesse to climb up here to save me.
Madperth - Mmmmm - right let me recap on events so far. I dropped my stone head and I am now in a cottage in the woods. I remember thinking you looked like a witch. Now I discover you eat children. This is all very worrying and reminiscent of a fairy tale granddaughter used to like. Oh dear I just remembered what happened to the witch when I turned on the oven to cook. Just so you know I haven't forgotten about gardening I am having carrots, cauliflower, brocolli and potato with the main course this evening; thsup, thsup, thsup.
3 Nov, 2009
LOL :))))
(Sorry to eavesdrop....but I just love the banter between you clever folk! GF you've no idea how much you make me laugh :)) Shhhh....I'll just creep out again....you'll never know I was 'ere....lol)
3 Nov, 2009
LMAO!! Spotted you, Di!!
Nice one GF!! As for MarieD (to dracula) the MAD part is my initials, so you're spot on!! :~)=
3 Nov, 2009
Like the fangs??
3 Nov, 2009
Oh...my ...must gather my coven...Gilli...Weeds ...come help.... Sir Bear is in trouble hung in a cage waiting to be eaten by a Vampire!???? This tale is quite tangled....Oh Well...COME .we need a strong spell...to save him..! Get your brooms out ....quickly now!
3 Nov, 2009
It is getting a bit convoluted, isnt it? Lol!!
3 Nov, 2009
Madperth - I see no fangs so is this a brain teaser? - G Marie this might sound crazy but I would Di if I found out we have some fan_s? You don't con vo me - you are plucking my lute. I'm no rose sucker for a vampire you know?
3 Nov, 2009
Di...we could use another Witch..gotta broom?
3 Nov, 2009
I can see him ...Mad Vampire is getting hungry...darn..my broom..it has...lost a few chunks out of the broom part since last I flew! Not able to keep a high enough altitude till you all get here..will have to fly low..hopefully Mad Vampire will not see me..hurry girls...
ya know Marie..you just never struck me as the Vampire type....see them all over the place..but you?
3 Nov, 2009
ROFLMAO!!!!
GF, these are the fangs I meant! :~)=
That's all! No, Cat, more a witch type than vampire! The vampire was just a cunning disguise to keep me safe!!
3 Nov, 2009
Well then why are you caging up dear little GF and getting ready to have him for dinner..he is scared to all Goydom...I don't believe it...not for a moment....you are trying keep us from coming to save him!!!.
good thing I am using my invisible witching cape..she has not seen me..only heard my voice...hurry I need back-up...
3 Nov, 2009
Lol! He's lying! I prefer them young & tender, & I know he doesnt look like his avatar now!!
You can come to Perth if you like, & see for yourself! I dont even HAVE ceiling roses! Unless he means the roses wrapped round my chandelier!
3 Nov, 2009
Madperth - Those don't look like vampire fangs to me - are you really a bugs bunny girl? That's all folks. Witch type are you then - good or bad?
Queen Catfinch - Fear not there is no need to Gret all the witches together; brave and clever sisty will save the day.
3 Nov, 2009
Exactly, GF!! They're not vampire fangs! I'm good of course!!
3 Nov, 2009
Glad to hear it Madperth MP - but you need to get your teeth fixed and claim it on expenses. I have to hop off now as I am going to Hogwarts tomorrow morning. Cheers.
Queen Catfinch - MP doesnt sound like military or police to me. She is shaping up well for a student witch don't you think? She must be good at digging but there again what about them teeth, eating children, drinking blood and she can't be a real gardner with no roses on her ceiling can she? We will see better if she doesn't eat all the carrots.
3 Nov, 2009
LOL GF!! You may call me Marie. Well, it is my name!
Student witch?? Spot on again! You ARE doing well!
BUT I dont have fangs, dont really eat kids, (well, not whole ones, lol!) The blood is apple-based, & I have roses on my chandelier! AND on my window! My ceilings are too low for ceiling roses! :~((
But I DO eat carrots!! Can I go to Hogwarts too??
4 Nov, 2009
Perhaps she is alright Sir bear...she doesn't sound so scary...now. :o)
4 Nov, 2009
I will leave you both to decide if I am to be permitted to stay! LOl!!
4 Nov, 2009
Darn I got here too late, as usual. Couldn't get my broom started. Erdin-erdin-erdin-errrrrr! I think it's in the carburetor. Darned carrot juice just doesn't work as well as diesel.
4 Nov, 2009
Princess Weeds - Glad you have arrived. Sorry to hear about your trouble - it wasn't a Scotch broom by any chance? Have you met Marie? She is not from Erdin-erdin-erdinburgh but from Gretel Green near Perth. You must have heard of Perth in Western Australia. It seems she wants to stay on my climbing rose site. Where she lives there are no ceiling roses. You would think they would plant on the ceiling and the roses would trail not climb down as they are the wrong way up on the other side of the world. I can't make flower heads nor puppy dogs tails of it all. Queen Cat o mine tails me Marie is not so scary She does seem to be turning over a new leaf but I am worried about all the spots on my climbing roses that Marie has posted. Whilst you spray carburetor cleaner I'll be spraying roses. The carrot juice might attract a bunny jump start for you. I suppose you normally run your plant on diesel.
4 Nov, 2009
Oh...hahahahaha...(that is Queenly laughter)...bunny jump start.. plants running on diesel...hmmm....depends on what sort of plant of course...oooooo! WE..must be in Alice in Wonderland...oh yes of course that is it...!
4 Nov, 2009
GF, I AM from Edinburgh, but I live in Perth SCOTLAND!!!
Numpty! Lol! As for my ceiling roses, I've taken pics & will post them in a mo!
4 Nov, 2009
They are now in my pics! :~))
4 Nov, 2009
Beautiful picture well taken
5 Nov, 2009
Marie from Scotland who was in disguise - no it can't be can it - well there is no other explanation for it is there - Marie De Guise mother of Mary Queen of Scots - OMG call the Ghost busters!
5 Nov, 2009
I'm not a ghost, just a reincarnation! (To keep with the garden theme!!)
6 Nov, 2009
lol...
6 Nov, 2009
Marie that was blooming brilliant but is this not a dead end because as a nation I think we are looking at the car through your rose tinted glasses.
6 Nov, 2009
LOL!! I like that one, Shakespeare! (From now on, I shall refer to you by this name!)
6 Nov, 2009
Why do people keep calling me LOL?
6 Nov, 2009
Because you keep making us Laugh Out Loud, Shakespeare!
I'm still giggling at that one!! :~D
6 Nov, 2009
lol
7 Nov, 2009
I just love this picture:-)
1 Dec, 2009
Bornagain - Thanks for your comment. I found it amazing myself. At first I was puzzled thinking there must be two separate roses. Then I inspected for the glue join (suspecting a practical joke) but it was real. Weeds11 and I both really like the orange coloured one's. Is that what appeals to you or is the change in colour or both? I am a novice with roses only starting this year. I tried to do a roses blog called Roses grow on you if you are interested. There are a couple more special coloured roses to me in there. Goy member Gilli is very knowledgeable and has lots of rose photos. If you go on her site don't tell her I recommended you go. I try only to be nice to her once a year. She has so many gardining admirers visiting her site it is my job to give her a hard time. Tell her I told you not to bother looking at her rose called Mon Cheri - that should send her back over here fuming.
2 Dec, 2009
I really must get a climbing rose...so I really must get an arch... I'm having a makeover..... so I can:-) I do love the brighter colours now, but it's the contrast here that makes for the Wow factor I think:-) As for Gilli, I'll just sidle up to her pictures nonchalantly and not even mention you, or Mon Cheri, have no fear. Can't have anyone getting big headed! ;-))
3 Dec, 2009
Have you looked at the arch ideas on GOY to see if you get some inspiration? Do you have a particular arch style in mind? I was quite pleased with my arch circle, photo on my rose blog. It is quite sturdy with three arches. I planted a winter and a summer jasmine this year as well and bought a better quality metal arch for them. For the wisteria I got I thought I would make my own arch so I could expand it as necessary. I have built a basic 4 post structure but have not decided what design to use to make it attractive yet. If you look and find anything special on GOY please let me know.
How big an area are you giving a makeover and what are your plans? Have you or are you going to put anything on GOY about it?
4 Dec, 2009
It's my entire back garden, unfortunately it's rather small:-) I have taken some pictures and will do a blog when its finished. Late November is, I think, the wrong time to start! My garden had been somewhat neglected for a few years so it needs such a lot of work that I need help which is in the form of a retired gardener. The first big job he's tackling is the pond and I've been attacking shrubs, roses (only have a few) and jasmine. I'm also ruthlessly getting rid of whatever is not worth its place, like mock orange. I want to replace my quagmire.. erm I mean lawn with some sort of paving, but don't want a big bare expanse. I've been looking at louis' pics and crazydi's but I cant get a handle on her tardis:-) I'll have a look at your arch circle and hope to find some ideas. I really must measure my garden:-)

Bornagain - I had a quick look on your site today. I was interested to see the trees blog, I had thought of doing something on trees myself after reading Catfinch's thought provoking Nurse Trees blog last week. Your interesting blog convinced me and I will need to give this subject more thought. Your blog depicts a semi rural and very pleasant looking area. I have seen some very entertaining contributions from CrazyDi but I have not checked out her ideas for small gardens. There is some interesting material in your last comment for the back garden blog you mention and so I look forward to seeing your progress.
