What is the purpose of the "helmet" is he a scavanger type like a mini vulture

I really don't know Neellan. It's not a scavenger at all - it eats mainly fruit, seeds and nectar with the occasional insect or lizard.

I thought with it having a bare neck it sounded a bit like a vulture

There must be a reason for both his helmet and lack of feathers or the poor birdie was just behind the door when they handed out the good looks!!

I'm envious of the variety of wildlife that you get in your garden Bernieh.

Adoronron - believe me we appreciate this place a lot. This is the first home we've lived in where we get to see such diverse wildlife and we're loving it.
