I am assured by members who grow this plant, and by the Nursery, that it will thrive in an east-facing position! So it's in a space in my hot border.

LOL!
Not sure, but aromatherapist Maggie Tisserand uses it to steam the sinuses!
I've never managed to get the oil or the plant!
Nobody seems to have heard of it up here!

Take a look at the RHS site and try their Plantfinder...there must be a Nursery in Scotland near you that has it.

I love these and have tried growing them a number of times but they have all given up after only one season.

I grow Inula but not this one, mine is six foot tall with huge leaves, which I cut off as they take over the flower bed.!!

Ah - but would it grow facing east, Dd? This one might be smaller, but it will! Yours would obviously have to go at the back of the border, where it's quite shaded. I would love one like yours, but I don't think it would thrive.

I dont know the flowers are so small compared to the gigantic leaves.

Oh - so they wouldn't show up anyway, would they?
I have planted a Cephelaria gigantea about half-way back - where a helenium gave up the ghost - and it should produce very tall cream scabious-like flowers waving about next year - at least, that's the plan!

Yes they are lovely and they seed around....thankfully.

My plans don't always work - due to the Japanese Anemones flopping around, in spite of staking and supports...so I'm going to TRY to get rid of some more of them in the autumn.

Yes lots of hard work ahead here as well, we have three areas that need working on, cant wait!!

My vine is dropping its leaves - IT thinks it's autumn already! I'd prefer to put it off, thanks, Dd!

That's supposed to be a good remedy for conditions such as rhinitis!
(A bit of possibly useless info!)
