Mabel

Couldn't resist sending this one I took earlier today. Mabel and her Hawthorn berries. I picked them from along the canal when I took Todd for this walk this afternoon. All the birds love them and there is nothing left when they have finished. Very good vitamins in the berries too.

Well, I hang 3 or 4 branches on the wire in my little bird room and all the birds including the Budgies have a go at it, so I can't think that it can hurt them. All my birds including the Cockatoos, Parrots, Cockatiels, Rosa Bourkes, Kakariki, Pacific Parrotlet,Budgies Senegals, Conures etc., enjoy eating and tearing the branches to bits.

Thanks Carol, she does love her berries! There are Elderberry bushes over there too and I can give them the berries of that too. They haven't ripened as yet. They can also have Rowan berries.

What a great tip Pamazon. We have a hawthorn but never tried our African Grey Mary with them before.Noticed if give her a small bunch of grapes she often eats the woody stems first ! Lol Made her perches from apple branches too as she loves to strip them of the bark !!

They do BB. They love to strip every leaf and chew up the branches, plus the added vitamins the berries give. As long as they are washed first to make sure there are no bird droppings or anything on them. There is virtually nothing left when mine have finished LOL. It's really good therapy for them too, to have a good old chew and strip!
