Louise and Clarice - actually I wouldn't mind a bit of the wet weather.

You'd get fed up when it rains day in day out, on saying that when we lived over there i use to say things like that, never satisfied are we.

That's it Clarice - the grass is always greener!

Lovely sky and nice area what is it the area

This photo shows the area around my property Morgana - that's one of our fences you can see. You are looking at the 'bush' on the northern side of our property. Those sandbags are to prevent the water during our wet season from completely destroying our yard. That gate leads into the other half of our property - the section that's never been cleared and stretches down to the creek bed - which is dry for most of the year.

What a lovely area you have to look upon shame about having to do the sand bags though

Have to agree Morgana - I do love it our here in the bush and we're up in the hills as well. There are great views all around here - at the moment though the landscape is quite dry and the bush grasses are brown - as you can see in the photo.

Your plants in your garden make up for the bush brown grasses, but people over here do buy brown grasses to decorate their gardens.

Yes I know - I think it's so strange. I could send them plenty! I suppose you're so used to seeing green - that brown is a great change!

LOL!!! I know I keep saying how strange it is to see the eucalypts over there (I'll have to get used to it!) As you can see from all the brown grass out in the bush, things are very dry here right now - this is the middle of our nine to ten month 'dry' season.

Yes, that's why it look so much like California...all the dry grass including the Eucalytus trees! It is pretty amazing...we even have the rolling hills here
also. Even our dry season is about the same amount of time...although, I think we are drier overall. Our normal amount of rainfall per year is about 9.5 inches / 23 cm.

Yes we get very similar conditions, although it sounds as if your area is drier. On average we receive around 43 inches if it's a good year - and we only get the rain during the summer period and usually that's towards the end of summer.

In a drought, we can go as low as 18 inches and, of course, if it's a true 'wet' season we can reach over 97 inches (which we got this summer just gone).

Yes, we are quite a bit drier...we haven't had our normal rainfall in many years. In 2003 we had less than 3.5 inches of rain for the season.

Wow! 97 inches of rain in one year! That's almost 10 years of "normal" rainfall here.

There's never been a year in 150 years of weather keeping records in San Diego, CA...where we have had more than 30 inches of rain in a season. Our rainy season is in Winter which overlaps with the Santa Ana Wind season (very hot, dry winds)...it is almost like an oxymoron.
Most people would think it's crazy...however, when you live here you just get used to it. lol!

when i see photos like that it takes me back to when i lived and worked in western australia great photos bernieh .

You're most welcome Bill ... you certainly lived and worked in a lovely spot. WA has some spectacular scenery.

I remember living over there, lots of good memories.
