Tried growing scabious once and not successful...
...don't know where things went wrong !

Think of how they grow in the wild, Terra - in grass so strong competition for nutrients, dry, well drained. Perhaps you were too kind to them.

I am always too kind to plants in pots...
... I give them too much water :o(
You are right....I probably gave my Scabious a life of luxury to which it was not accustomed......

This was a little waif and stray I found in the shadiest, driest part of the garden. I've dug it up to rehome it - if it survives.
