Thank you, Bernieh. I just joined the site and feel like a child in a candy store:)))

Yes I can totally relate - there's so much to see and read. It becomes a bit addictive though .. so be warned! There are just so many lovely plants, gardens and views to see here ... you're sure to have fun sharing your garden and seeing others.

This is superb. I have a yearning to grow a few dahlias next year,
When I was much younger my father grew them in what I used to think was a massive bed, of course I now now it was an average/small bed.
The other thing I remember is the earwigs - great if your an 8 year old who likes collecting them - not so good if youre 46 and your wife hates them.
Anyway thats our secret - shelll find out once there planted.

All your dahlias are beautiful Tate. It's wonderful when you discover GoY and you'll find yourself addicted in no time, if not already! A warm welcome from me too.

Thank you, Lily2. Yes, I have to confess: I am already addicted to this place:)) ...which is fun!

Nice dahlia. Hello to the GOY site.

Love the name, great colour, it reminds me of a paper decoration we used to have for C*******s (were not allowed to use the yuletide word yet on this site) Welcome Tate:-)))
5 Sep, 2009
I remember those C*******s decorations too B, we used to have them dangling from the ceilings along with paper chains. Then they all used to concertina up to be put away with great relief when the 'fun' was all over!! lol

Why this word isn't allowed?! Are there any other words I can't use here? Scary.
5 Sep, 2009
Just a joke carried over from another blog Tate. All to do with C*******s stuff being in the shops and garden centres ALREADY over here. It's FAR too early to mention it in full!! No there's no other words you can't use except swear words of course!
5 Sep, 2009
O, ok! Thank you, Lily2.

What's the matter with the word Christmas. It's been celebrated for an awfully long time.
6 Sep, 2009
Yes it has Lindak and will be for evermore but we are ignoring it for the present as we object to our garden centres being taken over by the commercial aspect of it so prematurely. When the comment started there was still FOUR months before the event! :o((
6 Sep, 2009
Oh I see. In that case I agree in the fact that Christmas products will soon be sold in the Summer. It's all getting out of proportion these days. It used to be really exciting, something to look forward to when the products began to come into the shops near to Christmas, but these days Christmas is just a money grabbing chance for some people. They can't see beyond the word of what it really means
6 Sep, 2009
Oh, Lindak, I so agree with you! I remember my childhood: this time of winter was magical and joyful - every single year I was waiting for it. And now - just routine, and quite annoying (!)
7 Sep, 2009
Yes I loved Christmas as a child too, all that anticipation! I'm not sure my grandchildren have that same feeling. It has lost the simple pleasures and is like all things today, so commercialised and pressurised.

Exactly!
