Thanks so much for posting this and welcome to the site. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
I do love pompom ds, can't grow them because I'm too cackhanded/short of time, need easier-care stuff till the children grow a bit bigger!
Lovely photographs. : )

Ohh, I just had a dahlia accident... People, stake your Dahlias WELL!! (or any other tall plants you have). If they say your plant will be 4' it is not enough to tuck a 5' stick in the soil next to it!! Stick should be thick and sturdy. They should also give a note about this plant's weight:)) A tall Dahlia's stem is over 1'' in diameter. So it is more like a trunk rather than a stem! My stake wasn't enough so I just have lost a big thick branch of my 'Spellbreaker'. IT WAS WITH BUDS!!!!!

Lovely dahlia. I have 'Bishop of Llandaff', over 6' tall, it's planted in front of 6' trellis so I tie it to that, don't think I'd be able to stake it otherwise as it's very wide too. What a shame to lose all those buds!

It is a shame! Yesterday night I realized that a trellis will be a solution... for next year.(

these dahlias are beautiful- they look like a really good design source- do you use them as inspiration for your artwork or papercrafts?

Oh, yes. They are great for macro photography - since these blooming 'balls' have so many detiles. Dahlias also make great coffee table mini bouquets. I also use pics of them for making greeting cards. Look very festive:-)

I should confess I adore sphere shaped objects - and blooms in particular. That's why I have so tender feelings for dahlias, clover, globe thistle, zinnias, double coneflowers and so on. People say if you like rounded shapes you're home and family oriented person. If it's true then I am a home oriented ball-maniac.
