That's a gorgeous looking garden Simbad - now I can see the size of your daylily bed. How many have you got there?

Your garden is wonderful - do you open under the yellow book yet? Or are you going to?

Bernieh have 83 daylilies in that bed but have a few dotted around garden 97 in all.
Wagger thanks very much, no don't open for yellow book, never thought about it, do you think its good enough?
Gardens only 8 years old, wish I still had pictures of when we moved in, used to be old allotment land and was sold off for building, all that was there was small wooded area at left of picture with two huge horse chestnuts that have preservation orders on them, on quite a steep hill so had a digger to terrace it, there's a smaller area at bottom that you can't see on this picture, husband and I raked and seeded the grass, too large an area to turf, then each year I keep digging more borders and beds, must stop as it takes some looking after, just been planting a woodland area this year and in spring planted 1000 snowdrops in there so should be pretty next year.
Have grown lots of the plants from seed and cuttings, offers in magazines, and swapped lots on swapshops, have a bed of david austen roses in front of kitchen window they're the only thing that really cost a fortune, but worth every penny and smell divine, and of course my daylily collection.
I'm rambling a bit aren't I just tell me to shut up.

You've done a marvellous job in that eight years - looks as good as some of the gardens we've seen under the yellow book. I gather it's a lot of hard work though. Will look forward to seeing that woodland area blooming with snowdrops next year!

Apparently they work on 45 minutes of interest, Simbad - I think I would be in your garden for 2-3 hours, lol.

Simbad your garden is simply gorgeous. How much time on average, do you spend maintaining it? Nicky

Not a huge amount Nickya I grow most of my plants from seed, having such a huge space to do from scratch it was a case of grow as much from seed and cuttings as possible, now I'm addicted so I'll give anything a go,have a huge box in the fridge full to bursting so the main cost is compost, I can get through over a dozen bags a year, we're lucky enough to have friends with horses so lots of free manure, the most expensive things where my David Austen roses and the daylilies I collect, but we'll keep quite about those ;-)
