The leaves do look very similar to those of Rudbeckia. And there is a variety called "Chocolate Orange" (but they are treated as annuals). Definitely not Chocolate Cosmos, though. Did you buy them just recently?

Thanks Eileen and David they look healthy I only bought them on Saturday David along with lots of foxgloves and thought these were too until I got them home and looked more closely at the leaves! the stall holder said they were chocolate. I think I must have misunderstood-well it was busy and there was a jazz band playing that's my excuse!

Sorry Neellan I am not sure but they do look a little like Rudbeckia leaves.

Umm my Rudbeckia leaves are broader and a firmer texture but I don't know the annual one that David mentions thanks for looking :o))

Problem solved it is Digitalis parviflora - milk chocolate I traced the stall holder this morning so was delighted to have the problem solved they grow to 36" with lots of little flower up the stem lovely colour too

I've had "Chocolate Foxglove" growing in a pot for about 5 or 6 years now....and it's never flowered :((( Hope yours does better for you Neellan...

Oh no! :o(( I hope so too I bought three lots white ones with dark spots a yellow one and these. Foxgloves like a woodland setting so I'm hopeful that they'll do well I love them so fingers crossed and maybe yours will suprise you next year! :o))
