Artocarpus heterophyllus - Jackfruit Tree

Artocarpus heterophyllus - Jackfruit Tree (Artocarpus heterophyllus - Jackfruit Tree)

Young Jackfruit developing on a tree in Foster's Botanical Garden in Honolulu, HI. I believe it takes many months to ripen, even up to almost a year. It also is the largest tree-born fruit in the world.

I'm going to post a few young trees with small fruits here in San Diego. I've never seen a tree here with mature fruit...I'll have to see if they ripen...it will be interesting.
