I seem to remember reading that those eyes are not real and are only there to look scary, is that true or did I dream it.
Have you got these in your house Gee or have you got carpet in your garden? lol

Thanks all ...
I don't think the eyes are real Lily ,
My hubby was brave and picked it up for me to take a photo , it's on the BBQ cover ..LOL...
It squiggled and moved about a lot .......

He is amazing....never seen one before Amy. Great disguise....Looks like a snake.
Is his head actually the other end to the false eyes? So that if he gets attacked it is his bum end that gets it?
12 Sep, 2009
Oh that made Jane laugh PG ..if that true says I should be careful as talk through mine ..mm
12 Sep, 2009
LOL....Watch out for an attack from the rear then BB!!!...:o))

Aye so sharp surprised she doesnt cut herself more often lol shes muttering something about no sense no feeling here ..still they do emerge into the most beautiful colours almost fuschia pink the moth not my bum...too much information ? Yep sorry lol
12 Sep, 2009
Had to 'Google image' this to see the colours as not seen one of these before....lovely colour....
You too could be fuschia pink if Jane attacks from the rear......
12 Sep, 2009
Oh LOL like she needs ideas and suggestions thanks for that one PG !
I ve only ever found them on fuschias and they are voracious but when saw how beautiful they were couldnt begrudge it a meal.Wonder if Hawkshead fuschia named after them ?
12 Sep, 2009
Sounds likely to me, do they leave their larvae only on this variety or any fuschia?
12 Sep, 2009

Sorry Amy ..leave us alone for a few days and look what you come back to ..I ve been trying to find out which end which apparently the eye markings are behind the head. When threatened they can retract the head which makes the eye markings swell obviously making them look much bigger.
3 Oct, 2009
Thanks for that Gee , obviously the site of my hubby was enough to make it feel threatened , no surprise there then , especially first thing in the morning ... ..LOL...
