What is the Mountain Range called again? I love the view..it reminds me of our Olympic, Cascade and Rocky Mt.s here..

Thank you. I have been trying to catch a good alpineglow for a year! SO glad to finally get to share it. :-)
This is the Alaska range. This is Mt Deborah, Hess, and Hayes. To the right is Mt Mckinley though that is rarely seen up in the clouds. I've got a few shots in here. None like one from in the park. I'll have to scan one I've got from there in.

Our Mt. Rainier is like that..so often clouded over it is part of the weather news..the Mt. is out today sort of thing! lol and everyone knows what Mt. we are talking about...although she is not so high as McKinley...the clouds hang about her it seems....
Looking forward to your pictures..

GT:
How many miles are you from this mountain range?
18 Sep, 2009
About 180 miles. The peaks are about 18,000 feet and the elevation here is 600. These are called the sisters.

That's quite a distance...they are such beautiful, very
tall mountains to have as a background.
Have been up into those mountains?

These are hard to get to Delonix, the highway southeast goes out closer along them and a favorite recreational lake has a great close view, but we don't have the road system to get there, they are pretty remote. It is wonderful having the alaska range out there snowy white year round. My recent mountian picture are in this range on the right side towards Mt Mckinley. The Denali Park Preserve is in this range on that end.:-)
Thank you Sandra, lucky for us this alpine snow doesn't foreshadow the coming winter. It's always there.

so even on your hottest of days you can see this?
20 Sep, 2009
Yep, year round. Glacier flows are common between the peaks. Ice just millions of years old. Of course sunset light is gone part of the season so they get hazy through midsummer.
