thanks everyone,i never prune the fuchsia Skillen,i use to cut it right down,then one year i didnt,and i havent done since.

I was building a bridge in woodlands in Kintyre back in the summer where Fuscia grow wild in big numbers but as they were under a dense broadleaf conopy they were very leggy. Yet in the open ground nearby they are bushy...like yours, so it sounds like they don't always need pruning back. I'll see if I have any photos.
This looks gorgous Suey (and Mr R too of course).
