Perhaps the most popular feature of the Southbank Parklands, in the city of Brisbane, is Streets Beach - a tropical lagoon with sandy beaches and majestic palms, right in the heart of the city, alongside the Brisbane River.
It's Australia's only beach in the middle of a city. There are no waves or dangerous rips like on coastal beaches and it's patrolled by experienced, professional lifeguards seven days a week.

This is fantastic, I think I will get onto Manchester council about an Idea like this in Piccadilly ..... on second thoughts you have the weather Bernieh we have all the dull and drizzly days like today.
Seriously though what a brilliant idea, saves getting swept away by the rips or stung by the box jellyfish.

Bob a good idea for Manchester we could have it with a covered Glass roof which rolls back during our rare sunny days. I agree with Bob a great idea Berneih bringing coast into the city.

Bobg - this site was originally the site for our state's Expo way back in 1988. It's right across the river from the CBD of our capital and it's accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It's very popular with families and because we have such mild temperatures for most of the year ... there's always lots of people enjoying the 'beach' area!

You'd be most welcome Gardengirl - make sure you visit our Sunshine state of Queensland and you'll be able to visit this great place in the photo.
