I love texture and lots of green. I also love vibrant colours. This is my first attempt at Heleniums and Echinaceas. Eh hum, I've now trimmed the edge of the lawn.....with scissors when noone was looking.

Bobg - I'll put the B&D scissors on my Christmas list :) Thanks Bernieh and Grindle - just below where I was standing, in front of the flowers is my pride and joy - a Melianthus Major (Honey Bush). It's put on a lot of growth since this pic was taken and will eventually fill the corner with it's huge silver serrated leaves. I've also since added a Bergamot - Monarda. The deep pink look great against the other colours.

The garden looks lovely, particularly when you look back at the before photos and see the amount of work you have put in. Keep it up it's beautiful

It's a spectacular garden with some great plants. I don't think my customer's would be very happy if I started trimming their lawn edges with scissors. I charge an hourly rate , so it might put their bill up a bit!!!!

Wow - what a compliment! Thanks Paulthegardener - yes - my thumbs weren't best pleased by the time I'd finished cutting.

You could go round the edges with a spade to get the curves in neatly if you wanted to. The flowerbeds are interesting with Autumnal colour from the shrubs and flowers. Keep going and well done.

Why thank you Tarratoonie :) Give me another ten years and it'll be a happy jungle. BTW my eyesight is going as in your profile I was convinced you'd said "Malfunctional" when describing your own garden - which incidentally is beautiful.

Thanks, Nicky, I'm pleased you like my gardens...
maybe "malfunctional" would actually be a better description than "multifunctional" ...LOL.

Lovely, I have quite a lot of grass in my garden, I have a petrol strimmer, electric, and grass shear, I always go back to scissor, now I only use that..and love it :))

Ha ha thats the best way to trim a lawn edge, I have a pair of Black&Decker electric edging scissors and they are a godsend, especially when I have to go tend my Father-in-law's grave as they are rechargeable ones, great for finishing off around the edging stones.
