Thanks for all your lovely comments. The creeper is Virginia creeper - it is stunning for a couple of weeks and hides a rather uninteresting peppledash.

No, Louise1, dusting and cleaning have taken second place for a while. The house isn't as large as it looks. It's really two floors because the underground rooms are tiny - a workroom and utility room.

Coping with very busy jobs and long hours, and 7 days of filming by Gardeners' World have taken its toll on housework! Now, since we both retired this week, we have a lot of catching up to face dripping taps, broken light switches, etc. But then we have the rest of our life to do that - the garden is always a nicer place to be then being in the house!

Most of the flowers are begonias and pelergonium, which we keep from year to year. Some of the other flowers are raised from seed and others are bought as plugs and nurtured on.

Fourseasons, i SO agree with your comment - the garden 'always' being a nicer place than in the house !!!
As for housework - i agree - 2nd place !!!
