Saccharum officinarum - Sugar Cane

This sugar cane was being commercially grown in Vista, CA...which is in Northern San Diego County. I had no idea sugar cane was commercially grown in San Diego County. It's usually grown in the Imperial Valley of California. Photo taken Oct. 9, 2009.

for the sugar. : > )
