Is it going to be a colourful autumn, Arlene, or a dull, brown, wet one? It's dull and wet and brown up here, we've not had enough sharp frosts to make the leaves respond with anything like a show of colour. Miserable.

~because most of these are beech trees they will just go brown but I think we might get a late show of colour in the other trees locally such as Oak Chestnut,Rowan,Hazel and Hornbeam~ I don't want any sort of frost until I have my new greenhouse delivered but we are having some lovely bright days at the moment!

Oh! You're so lucky, Arlene, it's bl@@dy awful up here! The only foliage colour I've got in my garden is the Viburnum opulus which never fails to 'deliver' and the weeping hornbeam. It's very dull!

New greenhouse? FAB! I haven't even got an old one!

How's the cold....are you feeling a bit better?

~sorry to hear that! temperatures here going to about 5-6 degrees but no frost yet.
Because some of my S African Proteas including a large Cynaroides~king Protea really suffered last year I am having a little green 6 wide by 4 deep roughly with toughened glass to overwinter them.
Next doors cat used to use my 4 by 4 plastic one as a jumping off point to get into our garden and wrecked the roof so I am hoping that this one will fare better!
I have started on the 4flu capsules which are making me feel a bit better during the day but not sleeping well~ hey at least i'ts not getting worse~ not swine flu thank goodness!
How are you?Is it very wet or cold or both?
take care!
Arlene xx

Good luck with the new greenhouse Arlene , I hope it arrives quickly for you before any really cold weather ..
You sound a bit worse for wear , get a good nights rest and sleep , get well soon x

Wet AND cold, Arlene! Makes my arthritic knees sieze up completely....rising damp!
Greenhouse sounds great!
Got yourself some warm milk and honey and maybe a wee dram, and off to bed with you!

Hope you feel better soon, Arlene. Lovely pic - right "up my street" so to speak.I love the Autumn colours. A work colleague and her baby have just been quarantined at home with suspected "swine flu". Hope it turns out not to be, for their sakes!

Fantastic photo..wonderful place

~ very wet and muddy at the moment Deida with little shoots of wild garlic already coming through~ the stuff spreads like wildfire and every year I am anxious to see how many bluebells there are as they are competing for space~ wasn't too bad this year!

Arlene never seen wild garlic..looking forward to a pic

Deida~ wild garlic is the most obnoxious stuff! ~ it spreads both by little bulbils on the roots and from seed from the flower head and is the devil to get rid of!
Looks like broad lily of the valley leaves with a basic allium type head comprised of about 6 or so small white flowers on a singe stalk~and obviously smells garlicky!
Will try to find a pic for you~
