Lambada getting ready to spend a second winter indoors. If course, the blooms dropped, but I'll keep it going another month or so, then put to rest in the cool.

Thanks Sadnra. And that is exciting news! Bet you can't wait to fill it up. I devoted the whole upstairs this year, so I brought in a bunch. Still managed to leave a few things out too late, even with the long fall.

Lovely Fuchsia, GT! I've got mine moved further into my balcony & I've taken a few extra cuttings of the 7 or 8 varieties I've got. I hope they root but like their parent plants they will have to spend the winter outside. I've got my windowsills full of plants - up to three tiers in some places!
I've wrapped a couple of thick plastic bags around my greenhouse so I will keep the smallest plants in there. I have had two conical hanging baskets in the same place on the balcony with a couple of Ivy Leaf Geraniums in them. The Geraniums have been there without moving position for at least 4 perhaps 5 years now. If they can survive the winters there I'm sure the Fuchsias can as well! They will stay in their baskets all winter hanging up in the interior of the balcony.

Sandra, I sleep downstairs in the dark under the loft against the cold north wall. Perfect den for sleeping. I have some photos in my blog about gardening indoors. Cosy but worth the garden space. :-) I only go upstairs to make an effort to paint or play piano. Its turning into a wonderful garden, once I settle it all in.
I hope your cuttings take well Balcony. They might need some indoor spoiling to root well before going out. I love collecting fuschias. Suching giving things. I'm having a pest problem this year though I'll have to remedy.

What pest problem are you having, GT? I've noticed that whitefly like them but I wouldn't call them a pest as they don't appear to do any damage that I can see. I've grown over 30 plants this year as well as tomatoes & Pelargoniums on the balcony & the worst affected are the Pelargoniums. I cut all the plants hard back as the only way to effectively get rid of them. Once I picked off the tomatoes the plants were cut down & put into plastic bags which were tied up & thrown away.
As you can imagine, I have no room for a compost bin on my balcony nor enough plant material most of the time to make one worthwhile.

I've got white fly and thrip. They suck the sap from the plant through the leaves and especially the new growth. The lambada has stopped in its tracks. I've got a chemical spray, I just can't take anymore. This summer there was more than normal, and they move in with the soil. Should be cleaned up here soon, I just have to keep my eye on them. The heliotrope is the constant one attacked. Most of the rest have no problems except this year.

I have had problems with Thrips on the Gladioli & other plants but don't seem to have been so much a problem this year as in past years.
I've left the balcony pretty much to its own devices this year even though I have been at home 24/7 for the last 7 months. Other years although working I was much more on top of everything.
