Garden visitor - Pheasant Coucal (Centropus phasianinus)

This is the only species of Coucal to be found in Australia and it is a common resident of northern and eastern Australia. The pheasant coucals around here are permanent residents and spend most of their time on the ground hiding in the massive clumps of lantana that grow wild in the surrounding bush.
