He he haveing a piggy back so funny.

I thought the bird was eating bugs off the ground hog but could not be sure.

The groundhog, also known as a woodchuck or whistle-pig, or in some areas as a land-beaver is a rodent belonging to the group of large ground squirrels known as marmots. In our area they like to live along the roadside and in farmer's fields. They dig large tunneled holes in fields under ground which the farmers don't especially like. As far as I know, they seem to only eat vegetation.

Yes they do that with the crockodile s teeth don't they.

What a fabulous creature! And the little bird there, will it be picking fleas from it's fur?

I never could tell if it was grooming the ground hog or pecking it, but it looked more like it was grooming it to me. Also, the ground hog did not seem to mind so I guess it was getting bugs off it.

Just seen this, never seen a groundhog, rather cute aren't they. Great pic:-)

Hi Janey and Bornagain, I knew when I seen this I should take the picture. Ground Hogs almost never climb trees and the birds and squirells knew he was not supposed to be in their tree!

Poor thing....lets hope he got down safely from it........

Never thought about his name GROUND hog, of course he shouldn't climb trees. In fact when you look at his expression, he looks like he's wondering how he got there:-)
