Fuchsia Beacon on balcony railing 2009-10-21 (Fuchsia)

This is a cutting from one of my standards of Beacon. I have several more cuttings of this Fuchsia which rooted well & have begun to flower in October. This was perhaps the one in which the flowers were best seen.

Well done, they do look good.

Thanks, GT. :-) This cutting came from one of the two standards of this variety. It's one of the easiest Fuchsias to root! I have several other clay pots on the balcony railings with more cuttings of this Fuchsia! This happened to be the best of them at that particular moment.

The two standards have done better this year than in the previous 6 years since I started them off as cuttings. There was a third but it died after a particularly nasty couple of days of strong winds which burnt off most of its foliage & it never really recovered. The other two were badly damaged as well but recovered albeit with the branches killed on the windward side. That must have been about 3 years ago.

Now I've got a few that have a few years on them I should start making cutting for the garden each year. I love having stock plants to draw from each year. SO much more bang. :-)

I hope to keep mine for many years as well. I took a few cutting a few weeks ago & I hope they will survive the winter.
