This is a must have once I saw this! Seems some had much fruit like this and others a nice dark red leaf worn year round.

The trees with berries had no leaves and those with leaves had no fruit. I'll have to look into that. I thought it was a cherry or somethign with so small a fruit. But this one was clearly labeled. A friend said the red leaved tree is this too. So this is, for sure. :-) I just adore it!

They do say the more fruit, the harsher the winter. And the higher the fruit is off the ground, the more snow you'll get. Good luck!!

It it must be a harsh winter to see this..then so be it! They are so lovely..

Oh, I hope that means last winter. :-) That was the worst I've seen for a while. This one so far has been really mild. I don't mind the snow though, bring it on. Just more insulation and water for the beds. :-)

Yes you are right about that GT...snow soaks the earth like nothing else..it is great for when it melts..love the last snows of the season in the very late winter/early spring for that....perfect for getting the bulbs going...

I lived further south at the Alyeska ski resort town and we would get 6-8 feet of snow. It was just amazing. Here its never that much, but I still love it. I put out some crocus to see how they do.

I hope they love it there GT...and bloom like mad..!
My daughter went to Alyeska and got to ski..she was thrilled with Alaska ..fell in love with it..I believe she had gone to Ancorage for a boat show and worked in a booth there is why she was even there...
I have only ever been to Ketchican and the Dahl Islands in October many years ago..it was fantastic for beauty there...was working on a boat at the time.

All the southcentral and southeast is a life on the water. The northern tip of the coastal rainforests. I was never one for it, and had nightmares of tidal waves. I moved back into the interior after a bit of that. :-)
Alyeska is really a wonderful place. I believe it is the only ski resort one can ski from the peak to sea level in one run.

I know what you are saying about tidal waves..camping on the coast it always a bit worrisome to me..

GIrdwood, the town at Alyeska was destroyed and moved up the valley in the earthquake of 1964. Tidal wave is a fresh thought in those parts. Th eovlcano just 80 miles off the coast in Katmai has been spouting smoke and bellering for four years now. I'm glad I got away from there. :-)
