This medicine wheel had beds prepared all summer but never planted, just grew weeds. It is south facing and wonderful to stand in. the lines behind is one petal of a childrens maze where siberian pea hedges are being grown. It will be huge!

I've never heard of a medicine wheel!? It does look very dry.

This is just very late fall Louise. It should be covered in snow, the temp is just above freeze in the day. Without snow we look very brown in late fall like this. We don't have a lot of precip, but it is lush and green all summer. The medicine wheel is a american indian symbol for the wheel of life, representing the four directions, the four seasons, and the cyclic nature of life. A personal medicine wheel would be filled with symbols that represent your nature, elements that reinforce your strong points and reminders of hard lessons and challenges. Medicine represents the things that form what you are.

Beautiful GT..great explanation...I have not made one for myself..but I think I will and then use it for meditation once in a while..I think I have one in my head all the time.. but drawing one out or building one somehow would be helpful.. :o)

Thanks for the info, GT, that is very interesting. I thought perhaps medicinal plants were grown in the wheel.

Cat , you hit the nail on the head. :-) We do keep these things in our head. The medicine wheel allows us to give power to those things with tangible objects so we can focus those influences.
I'm really curious Gee what will be planted there. A garden medicine wheel is a whole new thing I'd never thought about. This is the childrens garden section, it might be adopted out to a school or organization to plan and plant.

I'll keep my eye on it. :-) I did collected an aerial shot of the maze when they started it, but I'm not sure where I have it saved for now.....lol.

The area looks like it doesn't get much rainfall, it looks quite barren, Greenthumb.
