This Hollyhock has opened.......5th November

Lovely colour, I have just one flowering too, pinky one, all the rest have finished, must try and get a picture tommorrow, the seasons have gone mad.

You are so right Simbad...Poor plants dont know which way to turn.......

My white one (was supposed to be black) is flowering its head off, I like your pink one in spite of the leaves, they seem to suffer from this rust problem.

Yes Dotty been quite bad this year with it....blame the weather.......

The leaves may not be as you exspect but the flower makes up for it , its beautiful love the colours too.

I love HH...but mine are always loaded with rust...so I haven't tried to keep them anymore. My mom used to have lovely tall yellow ones! As to the climate...the last three years my delphiniums have bloomed twice...in june and in late October!! Nothing wierder than the weather...just about everywhere on the globe~

Everything's crazy with all this mild Autumn weather we're having here in Essex , isn't it Milky? I saw two Choysia Ternata shrubs in one of my customer's gardens today full of buds about to open soon, but I fear they will get frost damaged soon!

Yes Paul, I have seen Choysia in flower too, but your right.......Frost is just waiting to hit us...........

lori as soon as a leaf shows signs of rust you must remove the leaf as it spreads, also once the flowers are finished cut back stem and dispose of it all so the infection doesnt go in the soil and afect the plant for next year

I tried many things (natural controls) and finally gave up...poor things just struggled to grow and finally I couldn't bear to watch it any longer... planted something hardier and decided to enjoy hollyhocks in other's gardens! (I won't use chemicals) Not familiar with choysia, Milky ...will have to do a goY search. * Just checked out Choisya ...Mexican orange blossom...looks like great stuff. Oh for a warmer climate!

seems alot get rust though, mine were great this year, so will have again next year and hope for the same :o)

Hardly ever see a Hollyhock without rust (to varying degrees)

Yes, hope you're as fortunate next year. I had two lovely(almost) black flowering Hollyhocks but I think I'm going tom give up and take the remaining one out. It's hopeless.Looks so ubtidy with all the rust!

thats the trouble they do soon look untidy when it gets that, i have the almost black ones growing for next year so hope they are successfull, took my pink ones out, even thouigh they should come back i didnt bother just incase of rust
