Hi,PP.Yes,and know the area very well.We are what we say are "over the top"in West yorkshire,Between Huddersfield and Marsden. My Husband,Russell, was born at Boundary Park in Oldham, and his Family all lived in Diggle.Over the years, they have spread out to Uppermill and Greenfield .
When his cousin married, their first home was in Mossley,at Quick view, which had just been built. We come over to the garden centre in your
photo quite often,as you will know we have a bus service direct to Manchester.
(love our free bus pass ! )I liked your pictures of the walk into Uppermill. We have done it as well, but from Diggle, and it is so nice the way it has been improved..
I was born in Slaithwaite or "Slawit"as we call it in our dialect, and for the benefit of others who may read this,it was the village known as Skelthwaite,in the series Where the heart is.In fact, the first picture at the beginning of the programme, showed a long distant view of the village, with the railway viaduct,
and our first little cottage where I lived as a child,as it zoomed in.Our area is known as The Colne Valley, and like your area,is a beautiful place to live.We are so lucky.Russell moved to Marsden when very young,as his dad was from there. So that's how we know dovestones ! Take care, Sandra,

Thanks Eileen pleased you enjoyed the pictures.
Hi Bloomer, its a small world isnt it! My husband and I live on the Mossley Saddleworth border behind the Royal George, When you say your cousin lived in Quick view do you mean on Hey farm est as thats where we are in Dysatrs Close been here 5 years now and love the area. We originally both came fro the Manchester area, then moved to Mottram and eventually Mossley. walk to Uppermill via Greenfield at least 2 weekly and yes the Bus Pass is a boon when you dont feel like walking or the weathers too bad. Simon also lives in Mossley! T.C Carole.

Hi Carole,
not sure if that is the name of the estate, only knew the road.Have gone through an estate on our way to Ashton from uppermill on the bus,and remember turning up by a pub at the bottom. Is that the one you mean?
All your pictures are lovely,I also felt that I had been on the walk with you,and I spotted the Heron on the walk into Uppermill ! I love birds.Mine must be getting well fed somewhere else,as don't seem to be coming to my garden much, but sure they will when there are no insects or seeds to eat.I am waiting for the blackbirds and thrushes to strip the
Pyracanthas now,sure it won't be long.!T.C Sandra.
