The one I brought in is doing well and blooming through the banister. I'm thinking it is going to enjoy a winter inside and am now encouraged to increase my collection manyfold. :-)

The light is on this side, and since they were leaning a little anyway, I moved them so they could reach through. Now they are fighting one another to reach out over the abyss. :-)

Nice Carnations, GT! I've never brought them indoors as they are perfectly frost hardy. Never occurred tom either! I still have plenty of flowers on my Carnations on the balcony though they are flowering less as the weather gets colder & darker.

I must bring them in. Frost hardy is definately not hardy here. :-) Carnations do not overwinter and many dianthus don't as well. Seeing now that they may bloom right through winter, I'm going to collect more and more. I love these.

I have an old plastic bucket that has had a white Carnation growing in it for so many years now I don't remember WHEN I put it in! It has not moved one inch since I put it in & every year it flowers for months & months on end. Come snow or frost or wind or rain it just laughs them all off! I must have a look amongst my photos of Carnations to see if I can find one from "way back then"! It will be in many of the photos I have of the balcony as well. It may well not survive your extreme cold but a few degrees of frost doesn't bother it at all!
