Thanks Morgana .... I wish I could grow them in my garden .........they need to be grown where it,s damp , you can grow them but they don't last if it's dry ..

They would be ok growing by a pond then or bog.

I shall look forward to seeing your Candelabras looking like this Dawn .... :o)

Amy, looking at the photo they'll tolerate being amongst grass then - which would be perfect for me.
Were the wild stocks growing in grass or under trees Amy?

The Wild Stocks were growing in grass and under trees Dawn , I think they should do very well in your situation .. perfect :o)

And why should I take my boots off Amy? Not only would the food squelch between my toes but my feet would get cold in bed.
22 Nov, 2009
Jean would soon warm your feet for you Toto or as in bedsocks and broomsticks hehe
22 Nov, 2009
No No Toto .. you wrap your cat round your feet in bed , thats what they are for ... they lick the squashed food off in the night ......... LOL...
22 Nov, 2009
Jean wouldn't warm anything of mine Morgana.
I don't have a cat Amy. Jean won't allow me to have anymore animals since I ate the last one.

I thought that was why you borrowed Sarah's cat and then squashed it in the bed ... no wonder she won't let you have it again if you eat them ..... it escaped with it's life , one of it's nine gone .........

So are you chinese then Toto or do you eat chinese curries as they use cats to make their currys.

Oh Toto - I see you're winding the girls up again, ha ha.
Amy - the stocks should be just perfect then - imagine them between the trees, lovely ... and I can keep collecting seeds and have them everywhere. The ones in my cold frame are quite big now - popping out of the top :-)

Mine are getting big as well Dawn , i'm not sure where i'm going to put mine as I haven't all the lovely fields and wet areas that you have .....
When it looks dry enough to walk back to the area where we collected the seeds ( it is next to a stream ) we will go back to get a soil sample ( my hubby is an agronomist , I use to do the soil testing for him ) so we are very use to testing soil .. I will test it .. and then if you would like to send me a small sample taken about 4inches down where you intend to plant them , we will check that the soil is similar , you will know then that you have the best chance of a good crop ...... :o)

How exciting Amy and what a clever Hubby you have :-)
Thank you - I should do a soil test too.

I wonder why Dotty, I hope they like my conditions as I plant to have them around my pond and trees - thanks to Amy.
27 Nov, 2009
That will be fine they like to be damp, mine must have been in the wrong area, we had some very hot summers and mild winters when we first moved down here.
28 Nov, 2009
I hope so Dotty, maybe you would have more luck now the summer's seem to be wetter.
