I have discovered one of these in my garden obviously planted by the birds. The strange thing is the berries appear but I have never seen the flower or not to notice, obviously inconspicuous! They are growing in big clumps down on the Sand Dewns a few miles away from us. The foliage makes a nice contrst to the other plants.

its iris foetidissima, apparently the flowers are non descript. A neighbour was playing at being miss wilmot! I was over the moon as i have been trying to grow it from seed properly for years.

Yes I have this given to me by mother in law flowers are a muddy lilacy colour not very big so unless you look will miss them, berries are much prettier :-)

Blink and you'll miss them, Sbg. I don't like them at all! But the berries make up for it. I've planted two of the yellowy ones this year - I. f. 'Citrina', but no flowers until next year.
