That's a good idea - I have managed to get a few in between plants, and I have two pots in the greenhouse to give me some colour in the spring (and to stop the birds pecking them!)

thanx barbara, it is hard to get them in the ground before plants die off so this makes it easier ;o))not had bird prblems as yet

What, no pigeons? Mine are like Jumbo-jets, Sandra! You should see them trying to get food through the netting on the bird table...we had to do that, to stop them gobbling it all. Grrrrrrrrrrr.......
26 Nov, 2009
lots of pigions barbara but dont touch my pots near the house, they wait under bird station for seeds to drop lol,

I tried a few little yellow Iris danfordiae in that area - peck, peck, then one SAT on them! No chance of survival, was there?
26 Nov, 2009
i remember them treading on my delphinium , new plant, realised the bird feeder was above so they were after fallen seeds, so moved the feeder away from plants, its soul distroying isnt it when this happens ;o(

Rain again and hail as well. unbelievable weather, popped out to make a few holes in the beds to help the water drain away......... other than that all is well thanks. :+))))

Has someone punched you on your nose, Dd? That '+' looks just like a sticking plaster! LOL.
Yes, I am fed up with our weather, too. I thought I'd have to make a detour of an extra 10 miles to church this morning - but the ford was just about do-able, thank goodness.
