This has a common name pocket plant because the tip of the leaf is joined and forms a well that holds water.The leaf is very yellow when new and changes to white after a while , there are no 2 leaves the same

I love this Xanthosoma . I will always put in the common name if I know of one , sorry but I am stckler for the Botanical names. I find them so much easier and can be understood in every country . common names are not reliable as they can change from town to town..

I agree with you 100%, about using the Botanical
(Scientific) names for plants. Common names alone
can refer to, too many different types of plants around
the world. Plus, when I was going to college for Botany
and Horticulture we always learned the Scientific names first.

Amazing that no two leaves are the same and it also provides a water stop for insects ! Fabulous :~)
