Close up: North Chambers

Close up of the mystery chambers at the north end..ther are two others just out of shot left, one with an arch in the corner, one "blind " one just of the left bottom corner of this photo. To justify this picture being here..the standard tree is an Olive! The raised borders have now been cleared of weeds, the grass trimmed back, and planted with more Hidcote lavender..more hedges for the bees next year!

Up on the isles off Scotland they have simular where they sat on the steps to wash them selves. just a theory.

This picture could also be justified as a "gravel garden idea" Lol.
Certainly a lot of bricks were used to make the structure...

That's one reason why I have a mound feature in my garden..! The remains of the outbuilding and the houses..

I was thinking of lots of irises in the arched chambers, and some other block planting in the "blind" chamber in between..not thought that through yet. Suggestions?

As you said that the chambers fill with water you could get pond Irisis would look lovely.

I would have aubrieta along some of the higher wall edges.....
...but I am inclined to plant aubrieta in a lot of places...Lol.
