Tell me about it, i was in asda at the weekend before all this snow came with my daughter and she picked up some fruit and honey pancakes and she said why dont you try them and guess what i said can do if i dont like them the birds will, she just turned round and said mother your getting worse , usually she calls me Mum.

Sounds about right for me aswell, not been out for a few days only to feed birds, dont fancy falling in it. :o)))

You do right Clarice we re forecast for warmer day on Boxing Day so perhaps you may be able to get out then which is great for of all those of us desperate for a new bed or sofa ..groan.

Fortunately went a couple of weeks ago to see my father down south it was a lovely sunny week end for December and so glad went when I did. He lives in Waggers part of the country and the red kites are nearly as numerous as your starlings there. Some people feed them chicken etc from giant bird tables .. boy am I glad we dont live there lol

Think i'd have to pass on feeding birds if i lived there, the snow is melting really fast today but then come night it freezes again, think down south have already got warmer weather. thats one good thing living here the buses run a sunday service on bankholidays except xmas day, new years day and easter sunday, and they run every 20mins so not bad, but still get someone moaning as normal times are every 7-10mins. Still can't please everyone can we.

Cheese with Christmas cake BB???? Is this a strange northern custom or just one of your own quirks! LOL
Clarices's cafe is certainly THE place to go in Blackpool. Well done Clarice.
Yes, snow gone now down here and raining but as for warmer.......not a lot!

Morning Lily - and to you Clarice of course , sounds strange but not just me lol.Traditional to serve a hard cheese with Christmas cake not sure how far that extends to or if they do it in Lancashire but here you wouldnt be offered Christmas cake without it.

If you ve never tried it together its lovely as the sweetness of cake is balanced by cheese. Of course we have to use Wensleydale as cant watch Wallace and Gromit without it ...thawing very slowly here .

Hi BB/Jane all snow gone here thank goodness, but yesterday the roads and footpaths where just like glass, so i was still stuck in, but today been out for walk and to shops (first time for 1wk), dont know anyone that as christmas cake & cheese here, but my sister does and she lives in Derbyshire, i also have picked up from her xmas pudding with rice pudding on it instead of custard, thought it looked revolting at first but have to admit it is yummy.

Cake and cheese, pud and rice pudding......I can see that these combinations may complement each other well as both Xmas cake and pud are very sweet but just think of all those calories! Or better still don't think....just enjoy! Just a thought Bb, how about using Wensleydale instead of marzipan??

29 Dec, 2009

Clarice..Xmas pudding with rice pud..thats a new one on me,but will give anything a go once !Lol
Would love it Lily...but have you any tips on how to get the Wensleydale to stick to the cake and then ice it ? Lol
