When I've posted these plants in the past...many GoY members have said the same thing. LOL!. : > )

It's actually blue/silver. It's called Brahea armata - Mexican Blue Palm...which is native to Baja California. : > )

Mushybanna:

Mexican blue palm is very hardy...their only draw back...I would guess in England would be cold and wet. They can tolerate the cold...however, since native to desert Baja California they need very dry when cold. Wet cold weather brings many bacterial diseases and bud rot which will usually kill the palm.

Amblealice:

Large trees, which I've posted many in the past...are very beautiful and have very long spectacular flowering spikes in early spring.

We have some specimens of the Agave attenuata at Kew but I've yet to see one flower.

Yes, I've heard that from many people who grow them in greenhouses...I'm not sure of the reason. I think they just need to be outdoors in the fresh air maybe? : > )
