New Year's fireworks downunder - by the sea on The Strand

Happy New Year !!!! I was watching the news at 5:00 a.m. this morning and saw your New Years was at 3:00 a.m. our time...!

Happy 2010 to you too Catfinch ... yes it's already 8.00 am here and the new year has begun!!!

Thanks for sharing your New Year celebrations. I usually walk up the hill to get a birds eye view of the fireworks people set off in the valley below. It is a full blue moon tonight but the temperature is -2c or 28f out there at the moment so it will be icy. I don't fancy falling and sliding on the slope so I don't think I will go out to take photographs. Even if I did go I would not get shots as good as yours. I think I will just look at yours and the TV at midnight. Happy New Year.

Sounds like a good idea to stay indoors ... that is cold! Maybe you'll get to see the Sydney fireworks display on the tele as well ... that's always something to see! Enjoy your New Year, Gardeningfriend.

You're welcome Sixpence ... the council always does a pretty good job with the fireworks display ... really adds to the celebrations.

That is good of them, I don't know of them doing that here.

Avery happy new year Bernieh watched alot of fireworks on tv yesterday of Sidney.

Thanks Donna and Carol ... our local council fireworks display is always a great spectacle - nothing like the several million dollar spectacular down in Sydney, but we enjoy it immensely!

Yes the Eye in London looked good and the Eiffel tower too brilliant though no fireworks there!

Neellan ... yes I noticed that there were no fireworks this year in Paris - more environmentally friendly perhaps!

Yes I did wonder what all the jolliness would do to the ozone layer I hope it wasn't the cause of all the snow landing on my garden giving me aching muscles clearing the blessed stuff off the drive!

I think Sydney's 5 million effort might have contributed a few more nasty gases to the environment ... blame those aches and pains on us!!!

Aw no not your fault Sydney! They were fabulous the snow is a regular visitor in these parts regardless lol

Actually it's got me thinking now ... whether or not fireworks would leave behind many nasty unwanted gases or emissions - hope not as I do love the spectacle!

nice capture, by the time I get my camera out its all over, just never seem to be in the right place at the right time.

To tell the truth Smile ... both my brother-in-law and I were snapping away laboriously, working really hard to get it right and got absolutely nothing! My niece took maybe 2 photos ... and this was one of hers!!!
