Yes I get a reaction to them as well Marguerite ... lots of swelling and my skin goes red. Luckily I don't have to trim mine ... I've got quite a few of them down either side of my driveway ... they're now all around 4 metres tall and are fantastic screeners. They look sensational when they're in flower. I would think if they can grow fairly quickly here in my dry area, then they should be quite good over there as well.
