My Fav: Mountain Mahogany

My Fav: Mountain Mahogany

I love this shrub in southern Utah. I've heard it blooms nice white blooms, but I haven't seen those yet. I think it is so grand, and again, clinging to the Rim.

I love the name of it...Mountain Mahogany...I like the way it is growing there...look at the sprawling limbs...and white like that..is it deciduous?

It is an evergreen. On a close look I find it similar to rosemart except for the size and the white bark. I find it sooo beautiful, this is all over the mountains in Idaho where I grew up too.

Salmon, Idaho where I grew up it is in the mountains all semi arid, but not warm winters, we had many a winter days around 0F. I'd think the humidity where you are would be more an influence on its contentedness.

I know Salmon...yes it is much dryer there..would surely love to see if such a tree could grow in our more humid weather..it would be worth a try if I ever get the chance.

I'd try one potted up here in the house, i'll be on the lookout for a good hardwood cutting next time I'm down there. Rendom searches on my luggage are surely a surprize every time. Maybe I should send it. lol.
