Thanks everyone! This really is lovely isn't it. When people come to the garden they usually think it is a passion flower, or will ask what it is as it is so striking.

This is a beauty isn't it?

Just browsing thru the clem pictures Karen..I bought a young one couple weeks back. I know they are borderline hardy in some aspects..how did yours fare over this last winter?

I think this one did ok, but I think I lost 'pistachio' as it was new in the ground. This one has been in for four years now so has toughened up! Just love that iris Tetrarch!!

Then I will provide some cover for first year or two. We shouldnt be as cold as you are up north.
Gorgeous plant isnt it! Pity about the name..I bought two of them last year and am giving them lots to eat this year in the hopes it will increase quickly. I call it my Italian baby...better than Strozzapretti, which means Strangle the Priest! 00000!

I find it to be a spindly weak grower, but with flowers I couldn't be without!

Sorry, should have said "gorgeous iris" lol! Not that the Sieboldii isnt gorgeous also.

Ah, now I understand!!....I was a little confused but didn't like to question you! It is a stunning colour. I have two spaces in my sunny spot and I am going to have new Irises there this year....just have to wait and see what comes in to the GC later on.

I sent for these to Seagate Irises..spotted them originally on an American site. Seagates the only place, apart from the Italian breeders site that I could get them from.

Thanks for that info. Do you use Cayeux? They are difficult to get outside of the autumn time though aren't they. I will wait until the potted ones come out and see what takes my fancy! Last year I looked at Clare Austin but her prices were quite daft. Then I saw some lovely ones in the GC...not like this though, it's stunning!
