My Coffee tree has many coffee cherries on it right now...they should start ripening in early spring. My father gave me this coffee tree about ten years ago as a very small 4 inch/ 10 cm plant. It has been producing coffee for almost 7 years now...and is very productive. I dug this plant out of the ground when I moved from my other house more than 6 years ago.

No, I don't grind or drink coffee. I do eat the sweet coffee cheries though. Most of the seeds just fall to the ground and germinate in winter. There's several dozen seedling coffee plants under this tree right now. Usually, the snails, slugs will eat the little seedlings before they can grow large. I'll post a pic of the all the coffee seedlings soon. : > )

Can you make coffee if you wanted to from them or do they need a process?

Sandra:
One day I may go through the process and make a pot of coffee with my coffe seeds...even though I don't drink coffee.

Uma, thanks!

Mushybannna:
The coffee seeds (called beans) would have to be roasted and grinded. (it's a lot of work from what I've read) This little tree is productive enough to produce enough coffee beans to make a few pots of coffee. (I think)

Milky:
Coffee trees are a good greenhouse plant. They bloom and produce fruit in a pot.

Yes, the cherries need to be red before you can eat them.
Yes, my dad gave me my this tree back in 1999. It was really small only a little seedling.

Yes, it grow really when when it was put into the ground. It still didn't like the hard water here, though.

How to Soften Hard Water
Hard water is high in minerals, usually calcium and magnesium. These minerals leave behind deposits that can clog drains, stain glass and tile, prevent soap from sudsing, and leave a residue on hair and skin. Studies have not found any health risks or medical reasons for softening water.
Boil your water. Boiling water only removes some types of hardness ("temporary hardness"), so it will not work for all homes. Try this once to see if it works for you:[1]
Bring the water to a boil for a few minutes.
Let it cool for a couple hours. White minerals should settle to the bottom of the pot.
Siphon or scoop up the top of the water, leaving the minerals behind.
Optional: before drinking, remove "flat" flavor by pouring back and forth between two containers. This restores air lost to boiling.

That'a interesting! I'll try it. I've never heard of doing this before. I've boiled the water, only.

Glad you are going to try it out.
My mum taught me to get air back into boiling water is to toss it from cup to cup , trouble is its ok for plants but humans need minerals and magnesium and calcium.

They had to be Andy back then in the very early 1900s they could nt afford doctors so had to learn their own cures it was nt until the Welsh minister Aneurin Bevan bought the NHS about which the world envies but now slowly is being distroyed by the greedy big wigs perhaps to make the insurance companys richer that cover the banks like with every thing now.

I just realized I forgot to put your "mum" in my previous comment. LOL! Sometimes I forget to proofread. Yikes.

I knew what you meant Andy we are all human lol I am good at reading between the lines of what you meant even to knowing what other people really mean or are after or are like the government employed my sister for this very thing it runs in the family. I have missed words or miss spelt often on here and have nt proofread either answering so many have nt the time.?
I am pleased you found it interesting.
Aneurin Bevan came up with idea stuff the mouth of doctors with money they will do it our stamp like a tax on our wages pays for all to be treated rich or poor here for free.
