Looking different without some of the Honesty seedlings that were taking over. The new Photinia is at the back.

Looking great as usual.

The badgers dug up the Ophiopogon and ate the crocuses - I was hoping for some spring colour!
That bed can take several more plants, Wagger - I shall use my shoe-horn! LOL.

Sorry about the Ophio and crocuses - they must be the fattest badgers in Somerset. That shoe-horn certainly gets some use, lol.

I might take its photo. LOL.
Actually, as they keep coming back, I suppose they must be very hungry. I am fed up with providing food for them, though!

Smile please, Mr Brock! You're on GOY!!!

Oh Haha!!! You know what I meant.
I've never seen the bloomin' badger. I'll give him/them what for if I do, though!

Goodness, how different his looks from my snow garden! Looks beautiful! You can really enjoy gardening all year round. Ours has gone indoors now in the form of potted amaryllis.

I would wait up all night to see the Badger , i've never seen a live one !

Thanks, Elke. I do! As soon as the snow melted, I was back outside. It's been about 8 - 10 degrees here over the last few days. Warm enough to be outside for several hours.

I have, Amy - but only once as we were coming home late - it ran across the lane in front of us. I am NOT staying up all night, though! :-(((

very pretty, is the plant to the left of the skimmia coming down to the path a pachtsandra? [I have a variegated one if you'd like some spitz]

Amy you can come and see him in our garden about three am, used to trigger the security lights every time, he ran across the lawn one afternoon, I dont know who was more shocked, he was massive but couldnt he run!!! he uses the same path every night, his tracks were in the snow so we know he is still coming in, he comes under our joint fence, when our daughter lived next door we used to leave the adjoining gate open for him, so he wouldnt dig up the new fence, when she moved down the road, we had to shut the gate, so he just dug a big hole under the fence, which he has been using for over 6 years!!!!

No, Sbg - it's an Erigeron glaucus. I don't think I need any more shade plants at the moment, thanks. :-)
Yes, Dd - they definitely have a 'route'. They've dug under the fence from the farm and jump down onto the grass - then off up the the top lawn away from the house to dig up worms. They have got a lot bolder recently and have come within a few feet of the house - digging my bulbs up!!!!!! Grrrrrr......

Unfortunately Spritz there is nothing you can do about them, when we first came here they played havoc in the garden, we live in fear of them digging the lawn up over night!! at the moment they just use it as a walk through, cannot have any delicate plants in the run because of their big feet, tried all sorts of friendly deterrents, nothing worked they are very stubborn!!!

My garden seems to be the destination for them, unfortunately, Dd. :-(((

Oh dear that is annoying...ยง:=((

I'm off to Lidl's in a minute to buy little pots of bulbs - I'll be protecting them as much as I can! :-)
Maybe a sign saying 'That way, not this' might help! LOL.
22 Jan, 2010
That may help indeed, depends whether Bill B can read!!! have Lidl got some on offer at the moment?
22 Jan, 2010
I asked a question as to whether Lidl's had them in and went off yesterday to get some - they only had a few left! :-((
However, I have some pots to plant - and I'm going to add a piece of firelighter with each planting. I'm hoping the strong smell will put the badgers off.
I've already painted all the wooden boxes with Jeyes fluid. Docbob says that should work, too.

Do let me know how you get on with your deterrents, never heard of either, though the small of either would put me off if I was a badger..........!!
