So sorry Milky about losing a fish, its a mistery where it as gone with your pond being netted, and usually when they die they float to the top, fingers crossed for him.

Well no sign of him Clarice. Ray says that maybe he was up the top and the Heron spotted him and poked his beak through the net, but I didnt think that was possible...who knows...not been that close to a Heron to guage the width of their beaks....

Your Ray may be right, luckely no herons come near here, well now i've said that, one will perhaps come now.

Just a little fish feeding advice for those who wondered......wheatgerm is the thing for when the water is cooler. So at the beginning and at the end of the season it's the 'safe' choice. Their systems slow down when the water is not warm and Wheatgerm is easily digested. You can get it in pellets or sticks. :o)

Thanks for the info Potty, I had heard that was the only thing to feed while the weather so very cold...

Wow your fish are so colourful, and healthy looking, its surprising how resilient they all are. My husband owns his own fish/tanks/ponds etc. shops . Maidenhead Aquatics usually based in Wyevale garden centres maybe some of his staff can help you out. Our pond is disgusting, considering its his trade ........what a mess!

like the fish milky, hope you don,t mind me saying this but your netting is too big you really need 1" then nothing can stick their paw or beak in
26 Feb, 2010
i caught sight of next doors cat just sat there waiting for one to pass by, i,d left a gap the size of your net 2"to 3" for frogs to get in and out. lost 2 fish. closed it up,no more fish gone and the frogs believe it or not get through the 1" net lol
26 Feb, 2010
Thanks for the tip Fumble, but the net is 1inch maybe the angle of the photo makes it look bigger.....
27 Feb, 2010
lol,it looks bigger in the pics, haha
