I couldn't resist buying a small pot of 'George' today - they're in the greenhouse with 'Katharine Hodgkin'.

...and such texture, looks silky.

The flash went off, as it was dusk - the colour is even deeper than it appears here. I know they won't last long, but I said 'Oh Wow' when I saw them! :-) I can plant them out later, of course.

That is a fantastic colour........

I was spoilt for choice - they had blue ones, light mauve and these. All at 99p per pot! Couldn't resist a potful.

Our I. reticulata "George" are just beginning to shoot through now. Can't wait to see those dark purple flowers again. :-))

No - I can understand why! I'd never seen 'him' before, David. I'll be looking for 'George' bulbs in the autumn now.....

Stunning colour Spritz. They're lovely.

They've finished now, Gilli - I'll be planting them out in the garden soon.

Ours are still greeen "stumps". Still a good 2 weeks or more to go before even buds, I think. They are in a container, which I've re-located to the front doorstep, which is south-facing and gets more daylight now. I discovered "George" in 2008, and "he" was ideal for our, then, current garden theme, and with that darker colour, too!! just shows the great "seasonal" delay between you and here!! :-))

No, no - I treated myself to a tiny pot of 'George' in 'almost' flower, David, and he is in the greenhouse at 7 degrees. I have my first one 'out' in a pot in the porch outside the front door, though. The ones in the garden are only just emerging.
