Collecting material from a newly discovered witches' broom in the New Forest, Hampshire, back in 2007. (photo originally from blog, witches' brooms explained, 23 Nov, 2008)

Greenthumb, you have more natural conifer species to choose from in Alaska, than we do in the UK.

LOL, down south in the forests that would be true. We are just really really big. :-) The interior weather conditions severely limit the variety. I only know black and white spruce and larch. The coastal species would not survive. I've only seen mugo and ponderosa be introduced with some success.
