Is it a good idea to cut them back for the pink tinged leaves or is it better to leave it to do it's thing?

I leave this one to do it's thing Keithsmum, it has more of a tree form than a shrub, it's probably 20 feet tall now. They call this one a Flamingo Acer, but it's actually a box elder. I don't have a clue why .

Well, it seems to be struggling at the moment, it doesn't look very happy - a bit tattered round the edges.
