Oooh what's going up it??

I have ordered a Clematis flammula - white starry flowers and scent, Clematis Warsaw Nike - deep purple/violet flowers and a Rose ‘Rosa Papi Delbard' which also has a lovely scent and peachy coloured flowers. It's hard to imagine just now, but every year I am amazed at how plants grow!!

Looks great and I love your island beds, you can pack so much more in can't you. Really looking forward to a year in your garden. :-)

Unfortunately my back hasn't made a very good start to the year. It won't stop me, but it has slowed things down a bit ! :-(

Oh goodness! I know how you feel! I suffer periodically with Sciatica - it all started when we moved house to here and It's never been properly healed since. The gardening really doesn't help me because I will insist on doing too much, for too long, and too hard! I hope your back pain isn't more serious and that it will soon be on the mend.

You've got a lovely selection there Ks looking forward to it. Have you seen the solar fairy lights working? I would love to have lights in the garden, but my solar light just give a very dim halo around themselves and are no asset. Perhaps there are some (more expensive than my cheap ones) that give a decent light?? if so I would definitely buy some:-)

Yes, they don't give a glow around them do they? I have lots of solar lights in the garden but they aren't really to light anything up, just to give pretty lights to look at. The fairly lights are lovely hanging in trees and shrubs. I have a string around the inside of the greenhouse roof as well. I have used several online lighting companies and diy stores and I really don't think it's worth paying a lot for them to be honest. The best (for brightness) lights I've bought are carriage style lights that are around the fence in the japanese corner. I can't remember where we got them, but it was definitely on line. When we moved here we went for low voltage garden lights but like the solar, they aren't much use. In my old garden we had a set of proper spot lights and that was much better but they were mains electric. I feel that isn't really justifiable any more, so we'll stick with the low voltage here....probably best for the neighbours too as our old garden was quite bright! I have never come across a solar light that could actually light up part of your garden. Perhaps someone else knows of some?

Perhaps back to the candles, they certainly look nicer than my solar lights. We probably live in the wrong Country ;-)

Looks good KS, and the climbers sound great. You'll have a thick and flowering arbour in no time.
