My Silver Lady fern has been dug out of the ground and moved 3 times in the last 5 years...it's in a pot waiting for a new shady spot in the ground. It is pushing out several new fronds now. Photo taken Feb. 13, 2010.

I agree...it's looking good. It actually wasn't as bad looking as I originally though when I dug it out of the ground in Jan. It was getting too much sun...but the fronds were not badly burned. However, when I build my shade structure it will have optimum conditions for growth in shade.

Ah ha ... found it! Wow it does have quite a few new fronds on it ... it's looking great. I can also see its little trunk ... mine are too young yet for that. What a trooper ... to be moved a few times and still looking so good.

Thanks! Yes, it has 13 new fronds emerging...and they all look so healthy in the shade of the Kentia palm and with the rains we've gotten. My fern has a trunk which runs on the surface of the soil and curves up. When I purchased my fern it had no trunk and was in a small 3 inch pot. Your fern will probably develop a trunk within a year or so.
We had showers late Friday night, and late Saturday night...and late tonight (Sunday) we're suppose to get some very heavy rain through most of Monday. We're back into the wet El NiƱo rain pattern. It's great! : > )

We've been having heavy to light showers for weeks now ... the year is a little soggy in places. I think that the 'wet' is almost over now ... the sun is out today which hasn't happened much for a couple of weeks. I think the kids at school will be glad when they can get back out into the playground once again ... we've been unable to let them play outdoors every since the beginning of the new school year about a month ago. It's driving everyone bonkers!!

I bet it's incredibly green around your city now! You'll have to show us some photos of all the green grass and trees. : > )
I hope the school kids can get out into the playground soon! It must be awful to have the kids indoors all day...especially for the adults. lol. : > )
Our heat wave broke last Friday -- and the rain showers are back...today we had some brief heavy showers off-and-on. The temps were perfect for working out in the yard with the plants for most of the day though.
I'm going to take some photos of the green hills in San Diego...it hasn't been this green in years. It's wonderful!

What a beautiful fern...

Lori:
Thanks! It's a very commonly grown fern for semi-shaded areas here. The trunk usually only grows to 3ft/1m or slightly taller.
