A view of the spring boreal forest. We've had unseasonably warm weather, above freezing and everything looks fresh. Last two days, coated in freezing rain and back to 0F. It was a nice view anyway....lol

Thanks. We're back to deep freeze now though. Wish I was getting that warm up Vancouver is seeing, though it would be hard on my garden. I hope that you're chilly rain passes soon over there. You've had more than your share. A few bright sunny days with actual warmth I send as soon as possible.

Fantastic!

Thank you TOG. It was great to get a little, what we call 'breakup' weather. Short for the ice flows breaking.

We're expecting some wet windy weather on Sun but I'm hoping March will bring some sunshine. My garden needs some sun I get a couple of hrs in one corner at the moment. Got my next knee op to look 'forward' to on 18th and I'm looking forward to seeing all my spring flowers doing well by then.
Apparently our Daffodils are 5wks behind this yr, usually we have some for St Davids Day on March 1st but so far I've only got indoor ones.

The chill over there has dented the season. There were narcissus there last year poking up at christmas! But a late spring brings everything out in a rush, so be prepared. :-)

Everyone is complaining about what a crazy winter we're having! just about everywhere in NA it's been a story of extremes...we had rain in January! and there's more snow in Europe this year!

Gorgeous lost in the wilderness

Oh, Lori, I don't know how I missed this! I agree about crazy weather. We lucked out getting a warm spell instead of the cold that seems to be running rampant around. But a melt just shouldn't happen in our winter, damages the plants that need to stay sleeping to survive.
Thank you Sixpence. We are blessed with big empty expanses, though the far left is an army base just a few miles away. The city is just the other side of the hill. We like it to feel empty even if its full of houses. :-)

Those trees are probably quite old... the ones along the railroad tracks into Moosonee have a mantle of lichen and moss. I have removed most of the winter leaf mulch from my plants, yesterday it was in the 50's F.

I would put these spruce from 80-100 yrs old. Such slow growth here where there is a river of cold draft year round. Glad to here its warming so quickly. We were above freezing all days, the snow piles all have ice shelves to the south and the roads were drying up. A few more snow storms would be welcome though, we are relatively dry. That does usually bring a great growing summer though.
